Bebel Gilberto

Bebel Gilberto

The daughter of João Gilberto, one of the originators of bossa nova music, and the writer of 'The Girl From Ipanema', Bebel Gilberto is a popular and celebrated musician in her own right. She released her first EP in 1986, and collaborated with a number of musicians throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Towa Tei and David Byrne.

Her 2000 album, 'Tanto Tempo', became the most successful album of Brazilian music ever, selling over 2.5 million records worldwide and featuring on seven film soundtracks. All in One, which was released worldwide in 2009 on the famous American jazz label Verve, was released in Brazil by Universal Music and was the least electronic-infused of her albums.

Bebel has been involved with ABC since 2003, appearing at events in London, as well as offering signed CDs and merchandise as prizes for competitions. In August 2010, Bebel Gilberto performed an exclusive acoustic concert for ABC Trust at London’s Embassy Club.
