Jeremy Irons 

An Oscar, Golden Globe and Tony Award-winning actor, Jeremy Irons made his name in the celebrated 1981 Granada TV production of 'Brideshead Revisted'. In 1984 he made his Broadway debut and received a Tony Award for best actor in Tom Stoppard's 'The Real Thing'. He has since developed his career in film, but also occasionally returns to the stage. In 1991, he won an Oscar for his role in 'Reversal of Fortune'.

In 2006, Irons starred opposite Helen Mirren in the historical miniseries Elizabeth I, for which he received a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Since 2011, he has been starring in the Showtime historical drama The Borgias.

Jeremy Irons agreed to present ABC's BBC Lifeline Appeal at the end of 2005 which helped us raise nearly £100 000 for our work. Impressed by ABC's work, he became a patron.
